Who rides so late through night and wind ?
It is a father with his child.
He has the boy in his arms,
He takes it safely, he keeps him warm.

My son, why cover your face? -
Look, father, the Elf king not!
The Erl King, with crown and train? -
My son, it is the fog. -

"You lovely child, come go with me!
many a game, I play with you,
Many colorful flowers are on the beach,
My mother has many golden robes. "

My father, my father, and do not you hear that the Erl King
softly promising me? -
Be calm, stay calm, my child,
the dry leaves rustling in the wind. -

"geh'n My darling boy, you with me?
My daughters will wait on you beautiful,
My daughters do their nightly dance
And dance and sing. "

My father, my father, and do you not see
King his daughters in that gloomy place? -
My son, my son, I see it clear:
It seems that old gray willows. -

"I love you, I'm charmed by your beautiful shape,
And are you not willing, I'll use force!"
My father, my father, he seizes me,
Elf King has hurt me. -

The father shudders, he rides swiftly, He holds in
the poor shuddering child
reaches his courtyard with toil and hardship,
In his arms, the child was dead

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Il re degli essere uno dei soggetti elfi SEMBRA ricorrenti nei miei lavori, non never being satisfied with the result. Here one of my previous version, which perquanto rather naive, was published in a book by Raabe Verlag - Stuttgart and runs the internet, not always with due copyright)

The Elven King Seems to be a recurrent subject in my artwork. It is just that i am never happy with the result. Here is a previous version I did. Albeit quite naive, It Was on a schoolbook published by Raabe Verlag - Stuttgart and it Appears on many internet sites, not always under the correct copyright)
